As for the Federal Government and US taxpayers cleaning up the spill:
Louisiana can take care of the problem. They don't need no socialist government takeover to take care of this. The can do it themselves. Damn, if they need to have help from Mississippi or Florida, they can negotiate a treaty with them! And those British Petroleum fellas? They need to fix that darn leak - so why don't they drill a new well down in the bayou so the can get to that oil sooner and make some extra money to pay for the fix-up. And don't spend any of our tax money on this - cut services for the poor or something.
